Well, it was bound to end. As much as I would've loved to have a perfect regular season, the chances of that happening are slimmer than yours truly winning PowerBall tonight. So the Sharks will try to begin a new winning streak tonight against Calgary on Hockey Night in Canada... er in San Jose. As drama unfolded in the offseason, Calgary began their post-Kiprusoff era bringing in Brian Burke into their hockey operations department, along with many analysts expecting them to obtain the first overall pick. So far, Calgary is 3-1-2 and 6th in the newly expanded Pacific Division, but sit just 5 points out of the top spot, held by San Jose. For the Sharks, word is that goalie Antti Niemi will get his 8th straight start in net, going up against, fellow Finnish goaltender Karri Ramo. Look for the Sharks to keep the same lineup but Sharks coach Todd McLellan has been playing around with lines, including having another rookie, Matt Nieto on the unit with Joe Thornton and Brent Burns. Former Shark, TJ Galiardi, returns to San Jose for the first time tonight since he was traded home in the offseason. This was a move Garliardi was thrilled with as he is from the big Alberta city. PROGRAMMING NOTE: If you are in Canada or have access to the Hockey Night in Canada post game, Brent Burns is expected to be on Hockey Night in Canada After Hours with Scott Oake once the game is over. LET'S PUCKING DO THIS!!!
